June 19, 2021 / Source: The Bizz USA By Haarika Kalahasti "Our platform was first launched June 19, 2020, and since then, it’s opened our eyes to a world of adventure. When I first started it, I had not known what to expect at all. I was foreign to the organizational social media space and had little to no resources. I was inspired to create the Bizz USA because of the rise of other inspirational youth-led organizations, but most importantly, the importance of the news and media in society. Many teens, including myself at a younger age, don’t actively keep up with the news, which can be crucial in tough conversations and other situations. At the end of the day, it’s important to know what’s going on in your world because you’re living in it. Because of this problem I observed in teens and in myself, I created the Bizz USA to serve as an easy-to-read news platform for teens covering topics, such as global news, lifestyle, education, food and travel, small businesses, and other short narratives. Through this journey, first and foremost, I must thank my staff. My writers and editors have been so monumental in the rise of the platform. Adya, the Marketing Executive of the platform, has been so helpful in catering our content to our audience and assisting as a manager. Pallavi, Adya, and I, as editors, have been invested in ensuring our articles are ready to publish to the public. Our writers, Isabelle, Elizabeth, Janet, Malita, Aaryana, are very passionate and the most hard-working writers I have come across, and their captivating articles sparked interest in the platform. Without them, this platform wouldn’t be what it is today--a family. I must also thank all the small businesses and organizations out there. When I first launched the platform, I was frightened about competition and possibly entering a toxic social media space. But it was quite the opposite. On June 19, 2020, The Bizz USA joined an inclusive and supportive community filled with other student-led organizations that welcomed us with open arms. As a result, we’ve now built many genuine connections even outside professionally, which we wouldn’t have had if it weren’t for their kindness. Through our small business spotlights segment, I’ve had the pleasure to interview the founders of organizations and businesses and hear their journeys, inspiring me to keep going. Small businesses need to be heard, and I hope our promotion of them sheds some light on some important ones. When I published my first Juneteenth article on June 19, 2020, I hadn’t expected much out of it. I hadn’t known The Bizz USA would transform into a followed platform for teens. It’s transformed into something with potential in the future, which gives me hope for the education of teens. I hope that it can become a trusted platform where teens can indulge in the news with no hesitation or dislike for it in the future. Again, thank you to our wonderful staff for all the time, dedication, and effort you've put into each article! Thank you to our readers and small business friends for making us feel welcomed in the space. None of this would have been possible if it weren't for these three groups. This platform has provided me with the invaluable experience of learning to grow and adapt and connected us as a platform with various groups. We have a few big projects coming on the way, so stay tuned! Thank you again for all the love and support, and I can't wait for another year!"
