Restaurants have opened in multiple locations in the USA for a couple of weeks now. And surely, we’ve all seen some interesting and very creative ways business owners made an effort to enforce social distancing protocols. For instance, Burger King in Italy, a country that has been immensely affected by COVID-19, has opened a new menu item last month--The social distancing whopper. This whopper is still juicy and delicious, but instead of having one onion, this whopper contains three! According to Burger King and its team, the excess of onions would make the customers in the shop want to stay at least 6 feet away from another because of the pungent breath they will get from devouring the burger! Whether it had that effect or not, Burger King has also implemented another strategy in Germany! They debuted a life-size “social distancing crowns,” which are ENORMOUS, to encourage customers to stay far from each other.

June 19th, 1865, was the day the world turned around for the better. Juneteenth (June 19th) is a holiday to celebrate the emancipation of slaves in the United States. According to the former president of the United States, Barack Obama, “Juneteenth has never been a celebration of victory or acceptance of the way things are. It’s a celebration of progress. It’s an affirmation that despite the most painful parts of our history, change is possible--and there is still so much more to do.”

The Mona lisa: Is it worth the hype?

Is the Mona Lisa worth it? It’s undoubtedly a masterpiece created by one of the world’s most renowned artists, Leonardo da Vinci. It’s a painting that is heard around the world, as it attracts many thousands of visitors daily.
Made with oil paint, this decadent masterpiece hangs in the heart of France, in the Louvre Museum, and depicts the wife of a wealthy merchant. This simple, yet meaningful painting, has become a sensation due to its meaning, the fact that  Napoleon adored the painting, and that a heist was involved.

Speaking from a non-artistic standpoint, I believe it may not have been worth it. I had to go through a huge line full of people, crowding and pushing each other around to see and capture the masterpiece. I honestly could see a clearer picture if I had searched it up on the internet. I would be able to notice different things in a more precise image than a blurry one taken from afar with ten heads blocking my view. It was pretty nice seeing it in person and “breathing the same air” as it and Leonardo da Vinci.

Bored in the house and in the house bored? It's been about three months since our world flipped upside down and we're experiencing more boredom by the minute. Over the course of hiatus to the world, I've tried and found a lot of cool activities to do--things I would never think of doing.  This list isn't just "binging shows" or "making a tik tok account", it has much more unique things than that. (I love you, Netflix and tik tok. I'm sorry :( ) So anyways,  here's a list of unique things to do that I put together which I think will be pretty helpful :)

In the midst of the global pandemic and our busy lives, volunteering may seem like an impossible duty. Required community service attracts many people, as it has a benefit in some way to the giver (they could gain volunteer hours, and look better in college applications & resumes), but voluntary volunteering only comes from very few--the people who want to spend their time and energy helping others and making the world a better place. I strongly believe in community service and I think it is something in today’s society teens should more actively participate in. In my opinion, it should not be done for clubs or college applications, it should be done from the goodness of your heart to serve and help your country.
