School and work are major parts of our lives, and for sure, major stressors. No matter how hard it may seem to get rid of that stress and actually focus, there are natural ways to help yourself. One of those ways is teas or infused drinks. Some can help keep you awake, alert, and focused, while others may keep you relaxed and tranquil. Here are some energizing teas that are great for school and work:
  • Ginger Tea
    Ginger brings a sweet yet spicy element to tea making it an enjoyable drink. Often used for its fascinating medical properties, ginger is said to have many health benefits such as reducing inflammation, easing pain and digestion, and warding off a cold. Ginger tea is great to sip on while studying, as it increases attention and cognitive function, which is definitely needed during school! Whenever you’re zoning out in online school, take a few sips of ginger tea to ensure that you will pay attention and understand what’s going on. This tea will help you be productive and rock it out during and after school!

  • White Tea
    ​
    White tea is an infusion made from the Camellia sinensis plant. It is the least processed compared to green and black teas, so it contains a high amount of antioxidants. White tea has higher levels of a compound called Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) that stimulates short-term memory and may prevent brain disease in the long run. White tea also contains polyphenols like manganese, zinc, and selenium that are known for improving memory and concentration while at the same time reducing brain fatigue. Therefore, white tea can be the perfect drink for studying vocabulary words before a big test!
  • Green Tea 
    Green Tea is another tea that is awesome for getting your brain to work. Originating from China, Green tea is said to have many medicinal properties, some being nerve relaxation, stress reduction, and better sleep. L-theanine, an important ingredient in Green Tea, is an amino acid that reduces anxiety and calms your brain. In other words, it has the ability to relax muscle tension and reduce blood pressure which brings that tranquil effect that you need to maintain during stressful times.
    Its healthy antioxidants that help keep your skin fresh and give you a “glow from within” look. During online school, sipping on a cup of green tea to allow your brain to light up. In addition, green tea is great if you need to stay awake. It contains caffeine, which is known to “disrupt” sleep. If you’re looking to pull an all-nighter for that big test tomorrow, green tea is perfect for doing just that.

  • ​​Maté
    Maté is a bitter tea with an earthy taste from South America. It is an herbal tea made from the leaves of the ilex paraguariensis plant, and is traditionally drunk through a metal straw from a container called a gourd. Maté contains about 85 milligrams of caffeine per cup, whereas black teas generally have about 47 milligrams of caffeine per cup. Maté can be a great option for those who dislike black coffee, which contains 95 milligrams of caffeine per cup. Oftentimes, students’ schedules are packed from morning to night, so a drink that packs a punch of caffeine can help them get through late-night studying or early mornings. Caffeine may increase students’ energy levels and make them feel less tired. It also affects signaling molecules in your brain, which benefits your mental focus. Many people who drink maté regularly claim that it helps them stay energized without any jittery side effects.
